From Peacemaker to Eden: What’s Keeping Me Busy

Peacemaker Season 1 (HBO/2022)

I started Peacemaker Season 1 in order to prep for Season 2 coming out August 21 and...I don't know...I'm just hoping all the DECU isn't all goofy. I think the show is fine. But one of the MAJOR issues I've had with the MCU is it started to lean to hard into the 85 comedy/15 serious formula. And yesssss, I know it's comic book characters, so expecting it to less cheesy is a tall order, but I'm hoping (being 4 episodes in) that it calms down just a bit. I'm guessing it won't, but I'm ready for gritty comic book storylines again. I'll continue to watch it because I am interested in seeing how/if Season 2 ties into Superman. I do genuinely miss having connecting stories.

(Ok, update...I finished season 1 and I ended up being a fan...the quirkiness works. Plus I can't help love that the Vigilante kid played by Freddie Stroma/Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter. I'm still hoping the DECU doesn't have goofy for all the movies/characters, but I can admit when I was too tough on a series)

I am also interested in seeing how long people tolerate John Cena showing up, offset, dressed up as Peacemaker. There's always a fine line between enjoying a character and getting tired of seeing them everywhere.

Jude Law and Vanessa Kirby in Eden (2025)

Monday I did another one of those Sight Unseen movie nights at AMC. I know Marcus and B & B Theatres have something similar and if you haven't gone to one of these, I highly recommend it. The ticket is usually cheaper than a normal movie ticket (somewhere around $5-10) AND you get to see a movie before it's officially released. Monday's movie was Eden (directed by Ron Howard) and, as fun as advanced screenings can be, you do run the risk of a movie being a real snoozer. There is zero reason that this movie with THIS cast should've been this blah. Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, Daniel Bruhl, Ana de Armas, etc... zero reason this movie should've been this meh. The premise is interesting, it's based on a true story, during a tumultuous time, so I'm just befuddled how this didn't gel.

The monetization of rage baiting will be our downfall

Came across a blue check mark'd girl on Twitter who, due to being blonde, having a huge rack, and following, was given media credentials for the Steelers. This account, won't name her, but she's easy to find, does nothing but rage bait for that sweet Twitter money. I'm just completely over what we've all allowed to be the voices out there. Sports, movies, entertainment, politics...you name it. As long as you're willing to have no decency or shame AND you're willing to just post the dumbest stuff possible, you now have been given the keys to the kingdom. I know the Steelers don't care what this person posts because bad attention is still attention. Unfortunately, everything is built off of negative attention. So congratulations brands, whether you be movie studios, sports teams, or political parties, you're just helping the worst of the worst rise to heights for a buck and a retweet.
