The good thing about having someone else, or in my case, a random website, choose your movie is that you might see films that never crossed your radar.
And this can be a great thing when the movie exceeds expectations.

Emergency (2022) was chosen for me, and I'll admit I've never heard of this movie. I'm not sure even this small review will do it justice
Emergency is about two African American college students who want to be the first Black men to complete the "Legendary Tour" (seven fraternity parties in one night), but when an unexpected event derails their plans, they have to decide whether to involve the police. Oh yeah, and it features Sabrina Carpenter. Who knew?

Normally, I don't enjoy movies that bounce between too many themes or genres, but this movie surprised me in all the best ways. This movie starts off making you believe it will be a crudely comedic "coming of age" story between two friends, modeled after movies like 'Superbad' or 'American Pie', but slowly weaves in the deeper, complex issue of racial bias between whites and blacks, and even within the African American community.
It does a wonderful job of slowly changing the tone, so when guns are drawn, you feel the worst was horribly inevitable, which is about as raw a moment that one can hope for in cinema with a message.

Major kudos to the screenwriter and the actors who delivered these great performances.
Definitely must-watch on the Prime site... 4/5
