Where Have I Been? Let's Get Caught Up

Let's get everyone caught up because, honestly, where have I been?
I've been terrible. Here, TikTok, YouTube. Let's face it, your girl really isn't cut out for social media.
I get overwhelmed by the thought of typing content, recording content...hell, even just taking a pic of myself leads to overthinking.
So I kinda suck at this
So it's been a minute and I've seen soooo many movies since I last chatted with you.
I'll go through some of these pretty quick because during this time of year (up to now) these aren't the best movies being put out, but it doesn't mean they aren't entertaining.

The Roses: I wanted to love this with Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch, but it had too much sauce and not enough meat, if you get me. By the time we got to the main confrontation, it had just druuuuuuug getting there. Loved the chemistry. Loved the cold British insults, just pretty lackluster overall. 3/5

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale: This movie was not for me. I get that. I get that it is fan service and this was not made to draw me in. I had seen the first and second season of the PBS show, but hadn't caught all 6 seasons or watched any of the previous films before screening this one. I did watch the previous films so as to not be COMPLETELY confused and this movie did what it needed to do. It brought everyone back together, gave you a flimsy story and said goodbye. I'm sure fans of the show and movies loved it. And for that, I couldn't be happier. 3.5/5

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey: Colin Farrell is on it. I'm not sure I've seen him in anything I haven't liked this year. Pause. This is not to say this movie is great. It's acceptable, but heavy on the cliches. It has a lot of flaws with the story: plotlines, the ending. Again, there's a reason these movies come out at this time of year and it's not because they're fantastic cinema experiences. Perhaps worth a streaming view? Maybe and only if you've watched EVERYTHING else. 3/5

Eleanor The Great: Whew. This is a heavy one. It deals with an older woman who pretends to be a Holocaust survivor to continue a friendship with a younger woman she meets. I think if they would've used any other lie for this plot, I would love it more. But for this lie and how easily this movie deals with the fallout, consequences, just to wrap it up in a neat little bow for the audience at the end? I don't know. Maybe that's too harsh for a movie criticism, but it's hard to check my brain at the door when it comes to real world logic. This wasn't a scifi movie. This was real world, I can see this happening, type of movie. Emotional, but just really let it in for a soft landing. 3/5

HIM: Plain and simple it was butt. And not even a nice pleasant butt to look at. This was crusty butt. They let this plot spin wildly out of control. Not in a good way. You are left wondering what happened with so many plot devices that are introduced. The end is chaotic and crazy, but not in a good way. Marlon Wayans is worth the watch, but try not to pay attention to anything else that's going on because your brain will hurt. 2.5/5
I'm going to leave you with those older releases because I'm sure you didn't even make it this far. I don't blame you.
I'll start back up in another post with Tron: Ares, Roofman, Ballad of a Small Player, After the Hunt, Smashing Machine, Black Phone 2, and Frankenstein
If you've made it even this far: I finished Mutant Massacre, about to finish Kraven's Last Hunt, finished Peacemaker season 2, Alien: Earth, and have been watching Marvel Zombies. Click on any of those links to watch my thoughts on those.
