On My Screen (and Shelf): Peacemaker/Alien: Earth, The Conjuring Universe, and Mutant Massacre

It's a been a minute! So let me catch you up on what's been going on...

Peacemaker Season 2...where are we going?

If you've been watching Peacemaker Season 2, you know that the rumors have been around that episodes 6-8 are supposed to be game changers for the series.

Let's hope. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it has been stretching out a lot of nothing to get us to that point. So now it puts a lot of pressure on these next episodes to deliver. I have hope because seeing if this multiversal story shifts the narrative for future projects is something that most comic book franchises are lacking at the moment.

Alien: Earth eye alien. Not gonna lie, I have a love/hate relationship with it

Alien: Earth? Ehh...it's fun. But also kinda boring. Are they banking on several seasons for this series? If they are...why? This is set 2yrs before 1979 Alien, so there isn't a LOT of space and time to work with before you run the risk of making people wonder how this connects to the current, old school Alien franchise.

Don't get me wrong. I like having a character that is speaking to the Xenomorphs and using it as her attack dog, but then I'm gonna start to wonder why not have them working hand in hand on future movies/series. Maybe they will. Just not sure where they're driving at in the current series.

Creepy ass doll...no thank you

I've also been working my way through The Conjuring universe. For those of you interested in the chronological list, here ya go: The Nun (2018), Annabelle: Creation (2017), The Nun 2 (2023), Annabelle (2014), The Conjuring (2013), Annabelle Comes Home (2019), The Curse of the La Llorona (2019), The Conjuring 2 (2016), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), The Conjuring: The Last Rites (2025)

I've made it through The Nuns 1 & 2 and Annabelle: Creation. So far they're not very scary and this is coming from someone skittish of her own reflection. (Maybe that's more insecurity than fear...hmmmm...). They're enjoyable, bingeable, looking for spooking Halloweenie type movies for this time of year. Nothing too deep, just your good old fashion jump scares and easter eggs to make you sit up and point.

That's me when I catch an easter egg

St. Louis didn't get an advance screening for Last Rites, so I thought it a great time of year and opportunity to just go through the whole cinematic universe before seeing this "last" Conjuring movie. (I hesitate to say any movie is the last because money talks)

Comic book wise I'm still reading the Mutant Massacre event. It's definitely a lot better than Secret Wars II and shorter, so I have zero complaints about this series.

Jokes on you, I cry at baseball all the time

As far as sports go right now...the Cardinals season is coming to a merciful end. End of the Mozeliak era, end of Arenado's era...lots of changes on the horizon and I can't wait. Multiyear rebuilds don't bother me because what's the other option? Sucking and not fixing it? Yeah, we've done that for about 5yrs now. It's fun. It's baseball. It's a game. The stadium will always feel like home to me and it's always a bummer having to wait months before I get to indulge in that feeling again. Le sigh...
